This Continuing Education workshop offers an introduction into
the management of osteoporosis through the art and science of yoga
therapy. Participants will engage in lecture with slides and experience an
hour-long practice designed to illustrate adaptations and strategies for
osteoporosis. Some postures will be explored using chairs for adaptation.
Each participant should be able to get up and down to the floor with
independence. Participants can expect to leave with a deeper understanding
of both a modern and ancient perspective of bone health.
Here’s what the workshop will cover:
● Educate around specific movement strategies that help manage
osteoporosis and reduce fall risk
 Review spinal structure/curves of the spine/common sites of problem
● Deepen understanding of the 3 different dosa/s of Ayurveda
● Discover how to balance the vata dosa and its role in osteoporosis
● Engage in a practice that demonstrates strategies for working
with strengthening bones through breath-centric movements and
pranayama for optimizing digestion and balancing vata dosa
● Empower each individual to take charge of their bone health and
